Stephen Humphries

The Blog Rat is part of my split personality of student journalist Stephen Humphries.

Reading these rants can bring comedy to lifes little niggles.

These rants are mostly one sided and make rediculous generlisations of people and life.

The majority of posts are revolved around Stephen's part-time supermarket job, where he works as a cashier on a cigerette kiosk.

Be prepared for some ill punctuation and the occasional spelling error.

Enjoy

People baffle me

WITH just weeks to go until our dreaded deadlines are upon us, students taking the Journalism Practice module couldn't have been more busy. Whilst I found myself in an empty room listening to one journo bad-mouthing others.

This student had discussed her fall outs with current and former friends as to how she had been ill treated. My natural instinct was to sympathise and so I did, until the conversation continued and another girl began to listen. I began to questione "What is it about you that makes 6 people delete you?"

I don't like to take sides in upsets and definitely believe that there's two sides to every story and so I try not to give too much of an opinion and begin to agree, nod and try to continue with the task at hand and hope the conversation dies out.

The subject of a girl within our course had came up, where the other girl within the conversation pressed a harmless comment stating "I find she stares at me sometimes, she seems nice enough though." As I see this girl as a friend I replied "Oh really, I think she's alright, I get on with her anyway," and so that should have been the end to the story, it wasn't.

This girl later on sent me a direct message on Twitter saying: "LOL Stephen, were you lot having a bitching session today, so I hear?" For anyone that knows me or maybe have passed through my blog you'll notice at times, I can't be opinionated, but I always remain honest and stir clear of hurting anybody's feeling.

"Don't do unto others what you don't want others do unto you."

After a simple and honest explanation to this class mate as well as her thankful response and analysis of it all, I realised I had found an answer to the original question, but who am I to judge?

Never trust anyone.
